How Do I Start My Own Business In Investments?
Becoming an Investment Adviser was actually my 1st choice when I originally asked the question “how do i start my own business?” about 5 years ago.
My corporate employment background is banking so I was pretty used to giving people advice about where to put their money… but the crappy thing about banking, was that the amount of money I would get paid in commissions was HORRIBLE compared to the guys who were doing investment consulting through their own licenses.
When you sell investments – whether they’re stocks, mutual funds, cash value insurance policies, or even real estate – and you sell them through your own license you make 20 times – 50 times what you would make if you were working out of someone else’s brokerage.
So I decided to get my investment license, and started selling.
There are two huge advantages to going into the investment consulting business.
First, you don’t need to have millions of dollars to start investing. You can use other people’s money, and you’ll get paid accordingly. For example, instead of starting with $100 per month with your own money, you can get a client that has MILLIONS in their portfolio and you would get paid commissions on Millions instead of a few hundred bucks.
Side Note: You really have to be careful when you’re managing other people’s money, because not only can they come after your license, but they will never refer any new clients to you. That’s why you study and get licensed before you make any recommendations.
Second, you get paid residual commissions every year based on the size of your portfolio. So let’s say it takes you 5 years to get $10 Million worth of clients in your portfolio, and let’s say that you’re getting paid a 2% annual residual commission… 2% of $10 Million is $200,000.00.
Which means you will get paid at LEAST $200,000.00 every year that those accounts are in your portfolio. And if you’ve done your job correctly, that $10 Million will turn into $12 Million the next year, and $15 Million the year after and so on and so forth.
So every continuing year, you’ll be getting 2% on the new amount… so your residual income will be growing exponentially every year.
So all this sounds great right? But there is a pretty obvious question that’s floating around right now, which is…
“Arman, isn’t it a ‘bad time in the market’ for investments? Isn’t that a dangerous place to start my own business?”
And that’s a perfectly logical question to ask… and the answer is no, it’s not dangerous at all.
Let me explain…
When I said investments, I didn’t mean stocks only… or mutual funds only… there are literally hundreds of ways to invest and grow money. And there is ALWAYS something that is performing well. Your job as an investment adviser is to be up to date on what’s doing well.
For example… The stock market and the real estate market perform in the same patterns. Meaning, if the stock market isn’t doing all that well (which it isn’t at the time of this article) it means that real estate prices aren’t doing well either (which they aren’t at the moment).
There are 2 points I want to make about the stock market & real estate “problem” that’s going on right now.
First. Yes, it’s true that stocks and real estate prices have been dropping more lately than they’ve been going up… but if prices are low, that means it’s a BUYER’S market.
So as an adviser, you’ll be looking for people who have the money to invest. And you EDUCATE YOURSELF on what the best options are for your clients.
Second. When the stock market and real estate markets aren’t performing well, the Gold and Silver markets are. At the time of this article, the price of silver has gone up over 100% during the last 6 months. And you don’t have to take my word for it… just Google it and you’ll see.
So it all depends on how informed you are and how carefully you study the patterns of the economy.
Which brings me to my last point…
Starting your own business in investments is probably one of the cheapest ways to start a business. Outside of the initial cost for your licenses, and the cost for continuing education (which is less than a few hundred dollars per year) you don’t have any other costs.
There is no product to buy in bulk stock, because your products are the new account applications which will be given to you for free from which ever product provider you choose to work with.
You don’t have to hire any employees for the first year or two because you won’t be doing much “maintenance” as far as the business goes. You just focus on building your client list. The upfront commissions from the sales will be more than enough to afford a great lifestyle for you and your family. And the residuals from the money that’s under your management will guarantee you a GREAT retirement.
As long as you get a good grasp on the economy and the features and benefits of the investment options you choose to promote, you can sell MILLIONS of dollars worth of investments with the use of a pen and a piece of paper.
That’s how I started and actually continued to do business when I was doing consulting. I had a nice zip-up folder that I would carry around with me to my appointments with some charts that I had laminated, and that was it.
I sold over $25 Million worth of investments in less than 3 years of consulting. (Sadly, more than half of that was done when I was still in banking)
If you don’t have a problem sitting in front of people and explaining investment concepts to them, you won’t have a problem making money in your own investment consulting business.
There is a reason why so many millionaires are made in this business model… because the profit per sale ratio is SO huge. From one hour’s worth of work, you can make $200,000.00. No joke.
And if you’re really comfortable talking big numbers, you can make a few million dollars from that same hour’s worth of work.
Pretty cool huh?
I just want to give you a few of the licenses that you can get if you wanted to go into investments. These are not all of the licenses that are available BUT they are the most common and with these you can pretty much sell ALL types of investments. And they ALL have the potential to turn someone into a millionaire.
Life License – This is technically a Life Insurance license but the way the Life Insurance industry has developed, you can sell 70% of investment products with this one simple license.
Series 7 - This is THE investment adviser license. With this license you can sell anything outside of Real Estate. Stocks, Bonds, Mutual Funds, Annuities, etc.
Real Estate – This one shouldn’t require much explanation. Get this license to sell Real Estate. I believe that if you’re trying to sell Commercial Real Estate, you will need a separate license.

How Do I Start My Own Web Development Business
Starting a web development business has been reserved for the “technologically savvy”… until now…
This post is going to be awesome because in order to give you full directions, I will have to expose several key strategies that can be mixed-and-matched to almost any type of business.
Before we get into the detailed steps, however, I want to address a very common issue that a lot of people have when they think “web development”.
Developing a website isn’t anywhere near as difficult as it was 10 years ago… or even a year ago. You don’t need to know web design… You don’t need to know HTML, and you sure as heck don’t need to be a 10-year vet when it comes down to it.
What you DO need to be is resourceful. In a minute, I’m going to give you some of the best resources available on the net for web development… and you never have to get your hands dirty… ever.
I know it may seem confusing right now, but by the time you’re done with this post, you’ll get what I mean.
There is one other concept that I want to share with you before I go into the details… this concept is called “No Receivables”.
When you’re in business, there are only 2 ways you can collect payment… before you deliver your services, or after you deliver your services.
No Receivables means that BEFORE you deliver any product or service… you 1st get paid. This is key in any business.
The reason is simple… some people don’t pay after they’ve received their product or service. And if that’s the case, you just lost a lot of time and money.
So here’s why I mention this… if you want to start a web development business and you have no clue on how to develop a website… you still have an awesome chance of making it as long as you know how to sell.
That last part is pretty important.
(And here come the details)
Here’s how it works… you find a client that wants to get a website done. You get all the details about what they want on their site, along with a few examples of other sites that look similar to what he wants to create.
Then you tell your client that based on your estimates, this is how much it’s going to cost… let’s say $1000. And you further tell your customer that in order for you to do your job correctly, you will need the money up front (no receivables) and you GUARANTEE to deliver. This will require a contract of some sort.
Once you have your payment, you are now free to go hire a programmer to design everything for you. So you go to a site like RentACoder.com or eLance.com… or any of the hundreds of freelance sites available online… and you find yourself a quality, not too pricey, programmer.
Once you’ve found a programmer that does good work… KEEP THEM. Because you will be using them for future projects.
As your reputation builds, you can start charging more because now you have “programmers” working for you and you have to pay them as well.
This strategy can be applied to any business model… you don’t have to be the expert. You just have to be the sales person who ends up hiring the expert.
We’re Launching A New Business… And We Need Your Help.
So it’s been a while since I’ve made a post but I have a VERY good reason for it.
In fact, I know that once you hear what I’ve been up to, you’ll be so proud of me that you’ll instantly forget about my absense…

I’ve always been very passionate about the traditional schooling system and the information that our younger generations receive while they’re at school.
And I’ve always paid very close attention to the information that’s being delivered to these kids, the way the teachers deliver the message, and the percentage of kids that actually pay attention and use this information.
Here’s what I learned from my research… less than 40% of high school students attend college. And more than 70% of high school students never pick up another book after high school.
A person who reads these statistics could come up with many different reasons for this but the reasoning is actually quite simple.
After interviewing Dr. Tina Henderson, a PHD in educational psychology I found out that the main reason for these crazy statistics is that the students have no interest in education.
They simply aren’t fascinated by learning… they don’t see any value in it. And the reason for that is also very simple… the education that they got in middle school and high school didn’t seem practical from their point of view.
They found no use in it.
So after interviewing many different teachers, deans, tutors, and parents… I came up with an idea. (And it’s one hell of an idea… if I may say so myself)
You see, there is a certain group of kids who were raised in a “world class” home. That means their parents were “world class” people… entrepreneurs, professors, etc.
Now, these parents taught their children some principles and philosophies from a very young age… and these principles eventually developed into habits and these habits were the cause of their children’s success over their lifetime.
Not only did they teach their kids these principles, but they made sure to teach their kids to teach THEIR kids these principles… and so on and so forth.
But here’s where the problem comes in for the majority of families. A lot of our parents were NOT raised by world class parents, so they never learned these principles. And as a result, we were never taught these principles either.
And if we don’t change this pattern… if we don’t take the education of our kids into our own hands… the cycle will continue and it will only become worse for future generations.
That’s why I decided to create a course based on my experience with these world class families and share those principles with you.
I’ve already interviewed 5 different families and learned that they ALL educated their children in 5 main areas. So these 5 areas are going to be covered in the course.
We’re going to go very DEEP into each area… find out why they work, how they work, and how you can teach them to your kids in the most efficient way possible.
But I want to add a personal touch to the course. I want to know what YOU want your kids to learn.

3 Tips To Getting & Keeping A High Feedback Score On eBay.
If you’ve had any experience buying from or selling on eBay, you know the importance of having a positive feedback score and how it can affect your business and the way other buyers & sellers look at you.
If you haven’t had any experience with eBay, let me give you a few reasons why you should focus on having a positive feedback score.
- Positive feedback score gets your auctions to appear higher in the search results when someone searches for your product. The person with the highest positive feedback score gets the first ranking, and so on and so forth.
- Positive feedback gets your products sold quicker. If you have a lot of positive feedback from the people you have sold to, you’ll look more attractive to new prospective buyers. So if someone is thinking about which seller to choose from, your feedback score is the first and only thing they’ll consider on whether or not to buy from you.
- Positive feedback automatically says “trust”. There is a very subconscious thing that happens when a prospect is “shopping around”. They’ve worked very hard to earn the money that they are about to spend and the only thing that’s on the back of their mind is, “Can I trust this person?”
A high positive feedback score subconsciously tells your prospect that yes, you are trustworthy… and yes, they can do business with you without having to worry about getting ripped off.
The bottom line is, if you’re thinking about selling anything on eBay… you NEED to have a “High Feedback Score” at the forefront of your mind.
Now that we’ve gotten that out of the way, let’s talk about HOW to make sure you get & KEEP a high feedback score.
Thankfully, it’s not that hard to not only sell but make good money on eBay. If it was, I wouldn’t be spending a good chunk of my time selling stuff on eBay.
As long as you follow these 3 tips, you should be fine:
- Be straightforward and tell the truth about your product. There is nothing more annoying than thinking that you got a good deal on something, just to receive it and see that you actually got ripped off and there was something wrong with the product.
Personally, it’s not the fact that there was a scratch on the product or whatever that bothers me… it’s the fact that I wasn’t told from the beginning. If the seller would have mentioned from the beginning that the product had something wrong with it of any form, at that point I could make an educated decision about whether or not I want to buy that product.
Tell the COMPLETE truth, and make a reasonable offer… then let the chips fall where they may.
- Provide great customer service. Just like any other business, eBay requires that you provide great customer service to your buyers. That’s actually why the feedback score is there… to ensure that you provide great customer service.
It’s actually very easy to do this. Make sure you answer all of your buyer’s questions on time and truthfully, and make sure that you ship out the product on time. That’s it.
- Ask for positive feedback! This is something that I learned from being in the direct sales business. After every successful sale, I would always ask for referrals from my clients. Now, on eBay, a positive feedback score is like getting a referral.
Make sure that every package you mail out has a tracking number and when you see that the package has been delivered, message the buyer, and ask them to leave you a positive feedback. This will help you out A LOT in getting and keeping a high feedback score.

I personally love eBay because it solves a pretty big problem for me for FREE… it gets me traffic on my offers. If you have any physical product that you are selling, take advantage of eBay. It’s definitely worth it.

The Cheapest Business You Can Start, Says Entrepreneur.com
So I was doing my daily reading on one of my favorite websites, Entrepreneur.com, about what businesses you can start for the smallest investment possible…
… and I have to say, I was completely blown away by how expensive these “cheap businesses” were.
I mean, the most amount of money I spent to start a business was $400… and that was simply because I needed the licenses required by the State Government.
But the average cost to start your own business from what Entrepreneur.com is telling us is around $50,000!
Honestly, after I read that I was so reassured that my idea of pursuing a home business was the best thing that I could have done.
Don’t get me wrong, $50k is still nothing compared to spending half a million buying a McDonald’s franchise (and that’s actually even too cheap for McD’s).
But when you can start a business with a couple of hundred dollars, why the hell would you go and spend thousands upon thousands of dollars on a business that you’re not even sure will last?!
For some reason, people think that the more money they spend on a business, the higher their likelihood for success… and that is NOT true at all. It couldn’t be any further from the truth. Unless you are buying a true franchise – like a Jack-In-The-Box, or something like that – you HAVE to go to work every single day in order for your business to succeed.
That’s just the law of the business universe.
I don’t know of one single person who started a business and turned it into a 7-figure earner without investing some blood, sweat, and tears. It just doesn’t work that way.
So here’s my point in all of this…
The cheapest business you can start, based on what the guys at Entrepreneur.com are saying, will cost you a little bit over $1,500. And you’ll be a “franchise” owner in a cruise booking type of business.
You will have to go to work every single day and bust your ass to make your money back – and who knows when that’ll happen – and then you’ll start making some profit.
OR…
You can start your own Affiliate Marketing business. (Check out the Affiliate Marketing Section for more information)
It won’t cost you a single penny to start an affiliate marketing business. In fact, you can make money right away by signing up for the affiliate network of your choice, and start promoting their products to your Twitter & Facebook lists.
It really IS that simple.
Once you’ve made some money promoting to your Facebook & Twitter friends, you can then buy a website – which will cost you a WHOPPING $12 per year – and start building a list to further expand your affiliate marketing business.
Do you see how it works?
The more money you start to make from your affiliate marketing business, the more you can reinvest back into your business and grow it even bigger.
And affiliate marketing is just ONE of the several different business models that you can learn about just on this blog. The same concept applies to starting your own business with Information Products, eBay, or even Network Marketing.
Really, what I’m trying to say is… you DON’T need a small fortune to start a business that profits.
You DON’T need money to make money.
You need creativity to make money.
So please, do some research… some REAL research before you spend your hard earned money starting a “business” that really isn’t going to do you any good long term.

How To Start My Own Business With eBay
Ever since the day that it was founded, eBay has been the cause of the complete shift in online business.
Anyone who wants to buy something, they can go on eBay and shop around for the best price. eBay works on an auction system. If someone wants to buy something, they can look for the auction that fits their choice and bid on the product. Often times, you can get a product that is available at Bestbuy for half the price because you got it at auction prices.
On the other hand, if you want to sell all the “junk” that you have in your garage or attic, you can auction them off on eBay and have people make the highest bid to buy your stuff from you.
If you want to start your own business – or you just want to get rid of all the stuff that you don’t use anymore – you can auction them off on eBay and you’ll make a great part time income from your own eBay business.
There are many people who are making a great full-time income running their own ebay business.
What happens if you don’t have anything that you want to sell from your own stuff?
eBay has a program where you can partner up with major manufacturers and sell their stuff on eBay. You don’t work on commission at this point. You are buying and selling products WITHOUT actually having to buy them in advance. This is called drop-shipping.
Here is how it works:
- You place the product description on your website.
- Your prospect sees the product and places the order (makes the payment to you).
- You then place the order with the drop shipper.
- The drop shipper delivers the product and takes care of the fulfillment.
If you do a Google search for the term drop-shipping you’ll find many results that you can work with. I’ve done a bit of research for you and found a list of companies who offer this drop-shipping service.
- The Big Box Store – This a drop shipping company based out of China and they deal mainly with electronics.
- Shopster – This is a drop shipping company based in the US. They have over 900,000 products available for you to promote and make money from.
- SimplX – This drop shipping company is one of the main product providers for eBay. They have over 60,000,000 name brands available for promotion! A great way to start your own business.
There are literally dozens of great drop shipping services available for you to choose from. Do your homework and see which one you’re more comfortable with.
I want to give you a few pointers about promoting products on eBay. If you follow this simple strategy, you will have a lot of success on eBay.
Before you post any auctions and start promoting, do a little bit of research to see what other people who are promoting similar products as you are doing.
Look for PowerSellers and study their ads.
Study their headlines.
Study their ad copy.
Study the way that they put pictures on their auctions.
Study their pricing strategies and how they price their auctions. VERY IMPORTANT.
Post a LOT of auctions. It’s all about numbers. Don’t make the mistake of putting up one auction and wait for it to see if it sells or not. You need to post many auctions and let the numbers sort themselves out.
One of my very close friends is a 9-time PowerSeller on eBay and really knows his stuff. I did an interview with him and got a LOT of great pointers from him about how to run a successful business with eBay.

If you do a Google search for the question, “What was the first book ever written?” you’ll find out that the first books that we know of, that are still in existence today are the 5 books of the Hebrew Torah.
Just to give you a heads up, this is NOT going to be a conversation on religion.
The point that I want to make is that the first ever “Information Product” that was created was those 5 books… and to this very day, people are still spending money buying Torahs. If you try to forget about the fact that the Torah is a book of religion… you’ll notice that it’s just another Information Product.
It’s a book. A book is filled with information about any particular subject (if it’s not a story book), therefore it is an information product.
So if we track it back to the time when it was first created, you can say that people have been buying information products for thousands of years.
There has ALWAYS been a need for good information and many people have paid large sums of money to get that information.
Wars have been won and/or lost because of information. Businesses have been built to Billions or have gone bankrupt because of information.
Good information is VERY valuable.
What does all of this mean for you?
Well, it’s simple. If you are trying to start your own business and make good money from it, why not start by selling information that is already in your head?
It won’t cost you a single dime to create an eBook. You can open up MS Word, or your favorite word editing program and type away. Then turn that file into a PDF, and have it available for download.
If you want to be a little bit more sophisticated with it, you can create an Audio course or a Video course. The concept is all the same.
The amount of effort that you’ll put into creating that one product will be well worth it when you actually start selling it… because it didn’t really cost you anything, except some sweat equity to get the product made, and everything that you make from selling it is pure profit.
You’re probably thinking, “I don’t have any information that people would pay for.”
You’d be surprised.
I’m sure that there is something that you know how to do, and do well, that you can market. (If you go to the marketing section of this blog, you’ll see the tools that I have available for you for market research. Use those tools to figure out if you have information that you can actually sell.)
It may be the fact that you’re REALLY good at cooking meals that don’t involve any meat.
Or maybe, you know how to get little kids to listen to you.
Or maybe, you know how to jump higher.
Or maybe, you know how to keep your dog from peeing all over the place when it gets excited.
Whatever it may be, there is almost always some kind of information that you can sell. If there isn’t any information that you can sell – and you’ve done the research to make sure - then the next step is to find someone who knows something valuable that you can sell.
Think about your circle of friends. Who can you think of that is exceptionally good at something… anything? Most of the time, your friends are more than willing to do an hour long interview with you on a subject that they’re really passionate about.
Then you can turn that information into an actual product and sell it. All you have to do is turn the audio/video file into a downloadable file that anyone can download from their home computer… AFTER they pay you, of course.
It’s really the simplest way to create a product.
Now, let’s say that you don’t know anyone who has some valuable knowledge and you don’t know jack yourself… then what do you do?
Simple.
Learn.
Pick a subject. Any subject. And go to Amazon.com and order the best selling books on that subject and study up on it. All it takes is one weekend of focused reading and note taking to become an “expert” at something.
And you don’t even really need to be a 20 year expert. As long as you know more than the average person about that subject, then you’re an “expert”. And now you can take the information that you learned from those different sources, combine the best pieces from each one, and turn it into a product!
